Thirty years ago my daughter and I had the fortune of meeting Bruce and Joan Halpin via Jolene during my 4 years at UNB. Bruce and Joan welcomed us with big open hearts many times. We looked forward to our weekend excursions to Kingston. So much fun, love, and laughs, not to mention food. Our hearts and bellies left full, and memories cemented. Rest easy Bruce. A life well lived. The last time I saw your dad he had come in to the Regional for a procedure which was cancelled and I loaned him the money to make a phone call for someone to come get him. The very next day he was at my door paying me back the paltry sum that I didn't care whether I ever got back. That was his integrity in action. He was a lovely man, funny, caring, lover of mankind. And personkind. RIP Bruce. Blessings to your family.

I am just reading about the sad loss of dear Bruce. I met him ages ago through "barbershop singing". He was always a jokester and had a funny saying or something to make one smile or outright laugh. Rest in peace, dear friend.

So sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. We are in Florida so will miss his visitation and service but thoughts are with you all. I see people sharing stories and one I remember is when he was campaigning for NDP and stopped at Mandarin Chinese Restaurant in Hammond River. He ordered the dinner for two and ate the whole thing and then didn't have enough money with him to pay as it was double the price he expected. He told them he would be back the next day to pay. I have oics of him & Jim trick or treating on Hallowe'en and lots of videos from joke telling and singing at Market. Thanks for the memories Bruce and as I told you yourself how I respected you for your visits to Joan in the nursing home. In sickness and in health, Till death do us part !

Our Sincere sympathy to each and every one of Bruce's family. What a blessing he was to all of us who were lucky enough to have known him. We so enjoyed him any time we would meet to have a chance for a conversation - often political. What a dear man - father, husband and friend. We may not make it to the funeral parlour to see you, but we will be thinking of you. Blessings to each of you. Ida and David MacPherson

Bruce was a man who filled the room. With his stories, his laughter and the mischievous twinkle in his eye. Me, not being part of the Pine Falls clan, I always missed out on the inside jokes between your parents and mine but I did enjoy the fact that they had such great times together and we always left the peninsula laughing and smiling. I'm sure he and dad will be fighting with a break on the wet end in some heavenly papermill soon. He'll be missed but there is solace in the fact that he and Joan raised some great kids to pass along his humour , story telling and twinkling eyes!
