I met Sydney while working at the Lab at the hospital. He was a kind and true gentleman. I was always happy to by greeted by him in the payroll department. He took each issue (ones I created) and made sure it was corrected and did so with a smile.
Sydney was the type a person you wanted to be around. I remember him sitting in the cafeteria with his break buddies having a great laugh. I actually joined him a few times. He took time to ask about me and he knew my aunt. Such a small world but Sydney had a big heart. Rest easy.

To Syd's family....
My condolences to you all. I was privileged to have known Syd for many years. A smile was his greeting & he never forgot a name. I remember most the twinkle in his eye ... he would look up from his desk & say.... "now Sonia what's the problem ? " Of course it always concerned the payslip ! In a flash he sorted it out !
A life well lived !
Rest easy Syd

To Carol and all of Sydney's family and friends.
We are very saddened to hear of Sydney's passing, i first met Sydney as a co worker at the Regional Hospital. He always had a laugh to share, along with his larger than life personality. In his retirement we once again met at the Shannex Embassy Hall, where he and Carol made weekly visits, providing their pasterol care. My Dad loved to see them come and he and Sydney shared a particular interest in Hampton where my Dad grew up. He was one of the Angels that walked this earth. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sydney's passing. I worked with him at the Regional Hospital. He was so funny, you could hear his laughter as you walked down the corridor and even if you weren't going into the payroll department you had to pop in to say Hi. If I was in there talking, he would say to the next person. Did you meet my wife. He would then let out a big laugh. We often talked about the Erb"s. He and my husband didn't know each other but attended the Erb family reunion. So for sure they are distant cousins.
Take care

Peter, Jeff, David and Families: I am so sorry to read about your father's passing. I worked with your Dad at the West Side Community Hospital (DVA) and then on to the General and Regional Hospital. We attended Lancaster Baptist together and I so enjoyed getting to know off of you. Your father was such and kind and gentle man and his laugh could be heard for miles. When he started working in Payroll he gathered quite a collection of post cards from friends travelling far and wide. I was so pleased to be able to add to that collection. No words will help heal the hurt right now but you know for sure your Dad is watching over all of you and you will hear his infectious laugh just when you need it most. Deepest sympathies.

To the family of Sydney Erb;
Please accept my sincere sympathy and condolences in the loss of your father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
I can not begin to express how shocked and saddened I was to learn of Syd's Home Going. I've known Syd, his parents and his brothers all my life. We were carried into Church from the beginning, (he was 20 days older than me), attended Sunday School, began grade one together in 1950 at HCS, junior choir, BYPU/BYF, we drove together from Hampton to Saint John for our higher education, he to Modern Business College and the rest of us went on to Saint John Vocational until 1962.
You described him perfectly when you say he was a joker, tease and loved to laugh. I will miss him dearly when my birthday comes around again as he would send me a poem he would make up & sometimes even called and sang it to me.
One day while travelling home from Saint John I blamed him for what I thought was him in the back seat, blowing up a balloon and breaking it as we came around the turns at Hammond River but with in seconds I realized we had blown a tire.!! He never let me forget that, but I told him if he hadn't always been doing tricks, jokes and / or mischief of some sort, I wouldn't have immediately zeroed in on him. I have lost a dear, dear friend.

I was saddened to learn of Sydney’s death today. He was well known in his years working at the West Saint Hospital & in payroll at the Regional hospital. He was also instrumental in the committee that organized 2 successful DVA reunions. His wit & humour were one of many attributes & the laughter that followed will never be forgotten. He brightened up a busy work day, always after an encounter with him, you were leaving him with a smile. Sending sincere condolences to Sydney’s family & friends. Your contagious laughter Sydney will resonate with many of us for life.
