Obituary of Mary Teresa Brodkorb

Mary “T” Teresa Brodkorb (née Fitzgerald) died June 28, 2022, at her residence in Rothesay, New Brunswick. Born Oct 9, 1944, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late, Edward (Ned) and Theresa (Tess) Fitzgerald; she was predeceased in 1986 by her sister Ella Maria Karieva and in 2021 by her husband, Per “Peter” Brodkorb. T is survived by their son Tor (Maria Eleftheriou); grandchildren Ariadne and Solon; and her brother Edward (Marguerite) Fitzgerald. 

A lifelong educator, she taught classes at UNB, UNBSJ, and Rothesay Netherwood School, where she was Head of English for several years. Known for her generosity, hospitality and keen intelligence, T enriched and often changed many peoples’ lives with her bright and thoughtful conversation.  Her friends and family will miss her terribly.

In keeping with T’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. However, friends are welcome to gather at T’s house on Thursday, July 14, between 2 and 4 p.m.
