Obituary of David Somerville

The death of David Somerville of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Janie (Boyles) Somerville for 54 years, occurred on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 21, 1936, at New Glasgow, NS, he was a son of the late John and Rosella (Trenholm) Somerville.

David was employed with the Engineering Department of Bell Aliant for 39 years until his retirement. David enjoyed sailing, golfing, speed skating, woodworking, the Tuesday Morning Card Club, was an avid New England Patriots fan, and a past Commodore of the Rothesay Yacht Club.

Besides his wife, David is survived by his children; Kim Gillespie (Grant) of ON, Sheri of NB, Glenn (Kerrie) of AB, brother, Alex (Donna) Somerville of NS, sister, Margaret Atkinson (Blair) of NB, grandchildren; Brett Gillespie and Matthew Somerville, nieces; Jackie and Karen, and nephews; Robbie, Bruce and Brent.

Resting at Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 P.M. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Interment to take place at St. Andrew's Kirk United Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Romero House or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, would be appreciated.
