Obituary of Stephen Alexander Beaton
Stephen Beaton of Quispamsis, husband of Peggy (Duplisea) Beaton, passed away on June 18, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Inverness, Cape Breton on July 18, 1958, he was a son of Millie (Kennedy) and the late John Ronald Beaton.
Stephen worked for H&R Block as a District Manager, for territories across Atlantic Canada, until his retirement in January of 2012 after thirty years of dedicated service. He was an extremely devoted family man, who also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known to play the spoons as well. Stephen was a strong supporter of soccer; beginning with Cole Harbour Soccer in the early 1990's, and continuing on with Fundy Soccer in 1995, after relocating to New Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; their sons, Michael Stephen and Matthew Alexander; their daughter, Kristina Marie; brothers, Gerard (Joanne), Jerome (Andrea), Bruce (Vina) all of Halifax and Gary (Susanne) of Calgary; a sister, Eileen Beaton-Wardle (Guy) of Cape Breton. Stephen also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, all of whom he loved very much. In addition to his father, Stephen was also predeceased by a brother, Ronsie and a special aunt, Mary Frances MacNeil.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Robert Brown of Massachusetts General Hospital - Research, Dr. Colleen O'Connell of the Stan Cassidy Centre, Drs. Wildish, Smolinski, and Andreani, as well as the many nurses and staff of 5CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Also, a thank you to the staff of Kindred Home Care and KV Extra Mural for providing in-home support for Stephen and family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Vigil prayers will be held Friday at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
