Obituary of John Douglas Bielli
The family of John Bielli is deeply saddened to announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 14, 2018. John was the son of the late Gerry and Reida (Raymond) Bielli, born January 8, 1950 in Saint John.
He was a graduate of Simonds High School and attended NBCC. He began his career with NB Tel in the stockroom in 1972 and retired in 2010 as a cable splicer in the Fiber Op program. He formed many long lasting friendships with co-workers over the years and enjoyed breakfasts with fellow retirees on Friday mornings.
John was a past volunteer with St. John Ambulance and served on the Quispamsis Ambulance; and the NB Heart Surgery Support Group. He was also a member of the Men of St. Mark’s and enjoyed his supper club group. John loved the game of baseball both as a pitcher and later as a coach and competed in Judo. He also enjoyed a good joke, a game of cribbage and was well known for his witty sense of humor. John was a true family man who was especially proud of his two children and his treasured grandson.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia "Pat" (Martin); his daughter Carrie McGrath (Sean); son Jack (Jehanne); and grandson Jack McGrath. He is also survived by his sister Jennifer Whitaker (Gary) of Hampton, mother-in-law Peggy Martin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
