Barry, Grant, Colleen, Murray, Kelly and your respective families. It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of your father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. Having known Pat for the past 54 years, I certainly viewed him as a father, especially in my adult years. We shared many stories, had a few trips to PEI together, and enjoyed many visits. His passing will be a great loss to all of whom he has touched over his 93 years. While this is a very difficult time for you all, and indeed for all of us who knew him, it is appropriate to take solace in the fact that Pat is now at peace and is joining Belle and their baby daughter Maureen. Please know that I will be with Pat in my thoughts and heart at this time.

I have met you two at Pat's home a couple of times, and want you to know I will miss him a lot. We had many fine chats over the past few years, and I also knew Belle prior to her passing. Am thinking of you and Pat's family at this sad time. Knowing Pat is in Jehovah's memory and hope to see him in the resurrection soon.

Dear Pat's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked at the museum when Pat was volunteering. He was helping with a collection of large paper documents of past engineering projects and charts. He was a great man and always took the time to ask how I was doing and my family. He will probably be the only veteran I know that was in military tanks during WW2. Another neat thing I learned about Pat was an engineering project he worked on building a bridge out West. I will miss him. Take care.

If ever there was a gentleman, it was your dad. Mum (102 years old come November) and I remember him with love and appreciation. He was so friendly. He never criticized anyone that I heard but he would get this look in his eye and an ever so faint smile on his face. You had him for a good long while but it doesn't make it easier, I know, but his was a life well lived and we're very grateful to have been his neighbour at Shannex. And someone in our family is sleeping in a bed he gave us. Becky Hiscott and Duke & Carolyn Murray.

Patrick Ervin posted a condolence
I was sorry to learn about Pat's passing. My dad, Frank Ervin (also an Army Vet) was a resident at Shannex before his passing on July 22, and had known Pat pre Shannex. They sat at the same dining table. Whenever I dined there, Pat would typically just sit back and listen to often boisterous banter about this or that. I could detect the hint of a wry smile on Pat's face at such times. Such a gentle soul.
