Obituary of Mary Frances Gilliland
The death of Mary "Frances" (Marshall) Gilliland of Fair Vale, NB, wife of the late George S. Gilliland, occurred on Monday, September 10, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 4, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Catherine (Humphries) Marshall and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Frances is survived by her daughters: Connie (Bill) Carpenter, of Rothesay, NB; Bonnie Gilliland, of Rothesay, NB; Donna (Rodd) LeBlanc, of Riverview, NB; and Joanne Goss, of Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law, Margarite Marshall; brother-in-law, Malcolm Gilliland; 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Reginald and Kenneth; sisters, Catherine Carson and Agnes Raymond and grandchildren, Rebecca Cavanaugh and Paul LeBlanc.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). In keeping with Frances' wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Frances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
