Obituary of Robert James Hazen McAllister
It is with heavy hearts the family of Robert "Bob" J.H. McAllister, loving husband of Kathryn "Kathy" (Leonard), announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Born in Fredericton, NB on October 19, 1953 he was a son of the late James and Jean (Smith) McAllister.
Bob retired from Bell Aliant in 2011 after 38 years, and had a varied career with them starting as a Lineman and ending in HR, labour relations. Hockey played a huge part in Bob's life and along with following his sons' involvement in KV Minor Hockey he coached many teams including developing and coaching PeeWee AAA, Bantam AAA, Bantam A, and the Saint John Alpines Jr. A team. Bob was a very early member of the Hampton Golf Course and in retirement thoroughly enjoyed the senior mens' program. With his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years many seasons were spent in South Florida in their motor home. He will be missed by his many friends from near and far. Bob had the opportunity to attend the Indianapolis 500 & the Masters golf tournament in recent years, both of which were a part of his bucket list. Most of all he enjoyed his home on Ritchie Lake (Quispamsis) surrounded by family and friends around a bonfire where many a story was told. His cherished sons, Jason & Andrew were his pride and joy and Bob was safe in knowing that all would be okay on the home-front.
In addition to his wife Kathy, Bob will be will be greatly missed by his sons: Jason (Chantal) and Andrew; sisters: Nancy (Bruce) Fowler and Cindy (Dave) Hearn; adored grandsons: Harrison and Oliver; mother-in-law, Edwina Leonard; brothers-in-law: John Leonard, Andrew Leonard and Bruce (Melanie) Leonard; sister-in-law's husband, Randy DiPaolo; best friends, Ron and Beth Moore; an aunt and uncle and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law Joyce (Leonard) DiPaolo.
Bob's family would like to extend a sincere thanks of appreciation to Dr. Rob Hayes for his excellent care and compassion through the years. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
