Obituary of Harold James England

We are devastated to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother, Hal, father to Austin who is the light of his life, on January 12th 2018. Born in Saint John in 1980, Hal is the son of Mark and Bev England and is survived by his son Austin, sister Breanne, sister Karrissa Hanson (Tyler), brother Stefan (Stevie), nephew Jacob and niece Porter as well as aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. Hal also leaves behind his beloved dog and best friend Rio. Hal’s family and friends meant the world to him. He was so very proud of his son Austin and loved to have Nerf fights with him and especially with everyone at Christmas gatherings. Basketball and rough housing were always a good time. Water fights, BBQ’s and fires in the pit at the place he loved most.....home, with the people he loved, family. Golfing with his son or with his cousin Dan and friend Gerrad. Visiting his cousins trailer in the summer. A special memory to him was travelling to New York to see the 9/11 Memorial with some of the KV Fire department members. Hal also had a very deep love and respect of animals, our home was a zoo at times and he loved them all. He was just recently able to meet his newborn niece Porter and was so very happy and proud for Stefan and his family. Stefan used to lovingly be Hal’s "Gumby Doll" and the brunt of many brotherly pranks. Hal was very much a loving older protective brother to all of his siblings. When away he never forgot to ask after people and how they were, he loved to put a bug in someone’s ears about it’s time for another get together with everyone. A lifelong member of the KV community as a child/youth Hal was a Beaver and Boy Scout and attended Lakefield Elementary, Quispamsis Middle School and graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High School. He enjoyed basketball, Tai Kwon Do and Mixed Martial Arts throughout the years and was especially proud to take part in the Firefighters Combat Challenge and Musters. He was honoured to serve as an altar boy for Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rothesay. After graduation he went on to become a member of the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department, served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Rothesay Regional Police Auxiliary and at MRM (Maritime, Rescue and Medical) He attended the Atlantic Police Academy Corrections and worked at the Saint John Jail and then moved up to Corrections Canada and was posted to the Edmonton Institution in Alberta. Hal was very passionate about working in Emergency Service. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial Service will take place at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations would be welcomed in Hal’s honour to "Tema.ca", an organization whose mission is " To help those who spend their lives helping you". We invite you to learn more about them on their website https://www.tema.ca/ or to the IWK or SPCA or charity of your choice. We thank you all for your love, thoughts and prayers during this tragic loss.
