Obituary of Jillian Ann Marie Stoddard

It is with a deep sadness, the family of Jillian Ann Marie Stoddard, announce her passing on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital of a sudden medical illness, with her family by her side.

Born on July 25, 1982, in Saint John, she was the daughter of Charlene (Smith) Stoddard of Quispamsis, and the late Roger Stoddard and a proud big sister to Kyle (her 'little big brother') Jillian was a faithful and active member of The Harbour Church in Saint John for many years and she will be deeply missed by her church family (Braydon, Nancy, Richard, Sean, Marie and many others). She enjoyed painting and was very artistic, gifting many paintings to the ones dear to her. Jillian loved animals, especially cats.  Similar to her father she was known as a social butterfly. Family and friends always meant a lot to her, and you always knew it. Jillian was also a proud aunt to her niece, Arya (her 'little Sugarplum'), and Sara, her sister-in-law, but so much more than that, a sister she never knew she wanted but could never imagine herself without after meeting her the first time and sharing a hearty laugh.

Despite the challenges Jill faced in life, she was a light and joy to all that knew her and could call her friend. Trusting, empathetic and generous, she would give you the coat off her back if it would help you get through the day. She also had a great sense of humour and a laugh that could fill a room. She will truly be missed.

Aside from her mother, Jill is survived by her brother Kyle (Sara) of Quispamsis, her cherished niece, Arya, aunts; Linda Faber (Gunther), and Muriel Eisan (Gordon), and Michelle (Lyle) Hicks, uncles; Wayne (Darlene) Stoddard, and Cory (Barb) Smith, as well as several cousins. She is also survived by her cherished extended families The Hogenbirks (Aunt Carol, Uncle Rudi, Vicki, Alex and 'little' Rudi) and The Macdonalds (Aunt Wanda, Uncle Jerry, Adam, Jennifer and Jeremy).

Jill was predeceased by her father, Roger in December 2022, her grandmother Claudette in February 2023 and her Aunt Chrissie in 2020.

The family would also like to extend a thank you to the wonderful staff of the ICU for their care of Jillian in her last hours. As well they would like to thank the team of nurses, doctors and clinicians that have supported Jill through nearly 20 years both as a inpatient and outpatient. She would not have made it to 40 years of age without your dedication and support.
