I first met Art many years ago at Albro Lake Radio Station... What a great guy, honest, quiet and sincere. He was always willing to lend a hand when ever he was needed. I saw Art pitch fast ball and to me he came second to all. Always remember you Art...Rip

Sincerest condolences are extended to his wife Marg, Art's Family, and his many Friends.
Passing is just a stage of Life.
Life goes on.
I pitched against Art in the Nova Scotia Sr A league and also in a few Maritime Regional Military tournaments.
Art was a great competitor and a really good guy on and off the field.
May he R.I.P.

J C and the Cipryk Family Very sorry to see Art's obituary in this morning's Herald. We have fond memories of his time pitching for the Elks great fastpitch teams of the early 70's. He definitely influenced and mentored two young hurlers, who would go on to be stars on the Canadian Championship winners and the National team - Robert Putnam and Steve Healy. Apart from the ball, we were happy to know Art as a very kind and giving person, whose calm demeanour did not change, regardless of the situation. We are so glad he came to Brookfield, and feel that it was a mutually beneficial situation, as the Elks ethos was a perfect mesh with Art's commitment to sobriety. Treasure the many happy memories, and God bless.

Marg and family, we always enjoyed our encounters with Art whether at the Sea Dogs hockey games, Tim Hortons or at Meals on Wheels. I was often reminded on Friday mornings at Meals on Wheels not to get Art going on the Sea Dogs - once he got started on his Sea Dogs hockey, you could not get him stopped. We will miss him, and we're so sorry for your loss. Our sympathy and condolences - George & Mildred Urquhart

The whole Abela family is very saddened to hear about Art's passing. I always enjoyed our time together during our visits to the Maritimes and when he was in Ontario. His pitching prowess was truly impressive and I was thrilled to play "catch" with him on many occasions - as painful as it could be to catch those fastballs ;). Art will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Whenever I think of Art, I will always smile, because we had so much fun at Meals on Wheels and also on the Manor Board. He always wanted to help with whatever we were doing, and never failed to entertain us while we were packaging the meals with a few lines and a few steps to "I want to Sing and Dance ", followed by his Elvis impression of "Thank you., thank you very much". I'll never forget him having an ear plug in during the manor board meeting when the Sea Dogs were playing. Art was one of a kind-thoughtful to a fault sometimes-I always had to wait for him to come back from delivering meals on Fridays because he had stopped to either- shovel someone's driveway, spend time to talk with the lonely, and even once taking time to sew the sole on an elderly lady's slipper so she wouldn't trip on it. He loved to laugh and make others laugh too. I know that you will miss him greatly Marg , as will Bill and I and his many, many friends. He was so proud of his family and looked forward to each visit with them. I just know that he is whistling now in his heavenly home.

Margie and family. We want to extend our sincere condolences to the family.
I Lynn have known Art since the shipyard days. Somewhere around 40 years. He was always a gentleman and made me laugh when he ate his sardine sandwiches with Spanish onion and I believe Relish.
We often ran into him more recently at the sea dogs games.
May he R. I. P. and the family cherish the memories.
