I was very sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I remember Ron when I worked in accounting at NBTel. His door was always open to help you in anyway that he could. His knowledge of accounting and the tax laws was unmatched. Many outside accounting experts solicited his advice which is a credit to his vast knowledge. My condolences to the family.

I know it's been a lifetime ago, many years have gone by, Ron MacQuarrie was a special man who in 1972 saved my mother and myself Daryl Fournier from being homeless when my mum Lise moved to Saint John from Montreal. Ron or as I used to call him as a young child was "Daddy Ron" to me, even though I was not his kid Ron treated me as one of the boys, John or "John-John was closest to my age and I was the pesky little bugger always wanting to follow John all over Island view Heights. Andrew was the oldest and big brother to me and I wanted to be cool like him.Birthdays, Christmas, Summer time when school was over Ron never made Mum and myself feel any different from the family. Ron had a big heart and never left myself without, or my Mum who was a granny to John and Andrew.
I will always remember Daddy Ron as a very great man, kind and caring, men like him were cut from a different cloth.
I remember Ron for always being proud of his sons, his constant whistling, his love back in the day for a good steak supper, reading a book, showing me as a little boy how a man shaved.
Andrew and John were his life as I remember, and as his tribute above with the boys he was proud to be a hockey dad and started them out young.I remember many rainy days in the big basement trying to keep up with John with hockey sticks.
Those were many years ago buy are a treasure chest of good times I was able to have as a young boy all because of a kind man who helped strangers in need, and for that I will always be very grateful.
Andrew, John just want you to always know both of you were like my big brothers, your Dad always had your backs, and I know you both had his.
Much love and respect from Mum and myself.
Rest well Daddy Ron.

John,
So sorry to read of your father’s passing. He was blessed to have a long, active, and interesting life. I know that you have wonderful memories of him, both from your comments over the years and from comments that your childhood friends have shared in their posts.
With sympathy,

Andrew and John. Sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Fond memories hanging out in your basement in island view heights. Your father was always kind to everyone who hung out there. A lot of years ago.

John, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was remarkable gentleman whom I feel privileged to have met. I very much enjoyed our meetings at Town Hall and at his home to discuss various issues over the past few years. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to the hear the news. A lifetime of fond memories is passing through my mind. The neighbourhood was always welcome by Mr. MacQuarrie at 450 Clearview Row.
* baseball in the backyard.
* street hockey in the front yard.
* Mr. MacQuarrie always picking up a Romanos pizza for us.
* Mr. MacQuarrie never not once ever saying no to a sleep over - and there were many!
* Always drives in the latest car he purchased. The only guy I knew growing up with leather seats no matter what vehicle it was.
* And that same voice when he answered the telephone no less than 2,000 times - always the same. Where the heck was John anyway and why did his dad ALWAYS answer the phone?
Mr. MacQuarrie, you were the perfect neighbourhood Dad. You were always generous and available for us when we needed you. You allowed us to be kids! I will be forever grateful for the many times we were together in the neighbourhood. Rest In Peace and my heartfelt condolences to John and Andrew.

We both worked with Mr. MacQuarrie at NBTel/Aliant and although neither of us worked with him directly, he was always such a gentleman and a pleasant man to see. To his sons and families, so sorry for your loss

I worked for and with Ron for many years at NBTel! Suffice it to say he was absolutely brilliant! In the days before computers he had a handheld calculator from, I believe, Texas Instruments and he provided many an engineer with the calculations necessary to solve complex engineering problems! He was also a great boss. He would give you a job to do and then let you get it done, learning as you went about completing the assignment. Additionally he saved the company millions upon millions of tax dollars because he knew the tax law as well or better than those auditors sent by CRA to audit the company! My condolences to the boys and their families! He spoke about you often Andrew and John!
