Obituary of Annette Marie Holmes

With broken hearts we share the news of the passing of beloved wife and mother Annette Marie Holmes (nee Berry) on Monday, January 30th, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in her 71st year. Words cannot express the shock and sadness felt by our family at her departure. Born in Donnington and raised in Manchester England, Annette left the UK in 1978 to join family in Canada.  Although a proud Canadian, her charming accent, dry British sense of humour, and love for Manchester United never diminished.

Annette leaves a loving and devoted husband, David and the light of her life, her son Kodie and his fiancée Meghan Reibling. Annette is predeceased by her parents Eric and Yvonne and siblings Garth John Berry, Lynette Angus and nephew Steven Berry.

Annette will be sadly missed by her sister Colette Berry, her brother Keith (Chris) Berry, and sister Jeanette (Scott) Dyer. Sister-in-law to Victor (Pat) Holmes. Fondly remembered by nieces: Joanne (Kyle) Merkley, Kristin (Ed) Fagundes, Sam Oosterman, nephews Nicholas (Terri) Berry, Scott (Nikki) Berry, Eric Holmes, Michael (Melissa) Holmes, Justin (Rina) Oosterman. She will be dearly missed by her many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family all over the world.

Annette was a valued employee and had a long career with CGA Ontario for 37 years and lastly with OPG for the last 5 years prior to retiring in 2020. She cherished the friendships and memories that were made and held them very close to her heart.

Annette loved to go shopping, she adored Donny Osmond, attending many of his live performances, and always cherished time with family and friends. Annette was a trusted friend to so many through the years. Her beauty, vivacious personality, loyalty and inner strength made her a force to reckon with and someone it was truly a blessing to have in your life.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). As per Annette’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay on Friday, March 3, 2023,  at 11 AM. For those unable to attend, the Mass celebrating Annette's life can be viewed on the link provided.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Annette’s memory may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
