Obituary of Lowell Henderson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Arthur “Lowell” Henderson, loving husband of Roberta Ann (Hoyt), announces his peaceful passing on April 20, 2022 at Shannex Tucker Hall in Saint John, surrounded by his family.

Born in Nauwigewauk, NB, on December 2, 1930, he was a son of the late J. Clarence and Jean E. (Dickson) Henderson.

A cradle Anglican, Lowell was a Diocesan lay reader and active in parish life wherever he dwelt, particularly in the Parish of Hammond River.

After college, Lowell joined the Freight Sales and Services Department of CN Rail and spent over 35 years serving shippers throughout the Maritimes while based in Saint John, Moncton and Halifax, retiring as Regional Manager of Sales and Services in 1986. Following retirement, he continued an active role in the CN Pensioners’ Association, the CNIB, Hammond River Anglers Association, and enjoyed square and round dancing, as well as fly fishing.

Lowell was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He was the go-to person relied on by many to be a calming presence, take charge in any situation, and get the job done. His patience, faith and kindness were felt by everyone around him, and he truly made the world a better place.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Ann of 67 years; his son Mark (Tanya) of Nauwigewauk; granddaughters Amy-Jo Henderson, Amanda (Jonathan) Aubé and Rebecca (Tyler) Steeves; grandson Joseph (Carolyn) Henderson; great-grandsons Hunter, Connor, Luke and Tanner; sister-in-law Joanne Henderson; brother-in-law Thomas Hoyt; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother George (Joanne) Henderson and sister Alice (Tim) Young.

Lowell’s family would like to thank the staff at Shannex Tucker Hall for the incredible care they provided to our beloved husband, father and grampie. The compassion and dignity he was treated with, particularly in his final hours, will never be forgotten.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, with visitation on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 2 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment in the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Stock Farm Road. For the funeral service at Holy Trinity Church, masks and proof of vaccination are requested.
