Obituary of Rita Mary Johnson

It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Rita Mary Johnson, of Quispamsis, NB, wife of the late Burton “Bud” Johnson, announce her passing on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born on June 27, 1939, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen (Whittaker) Frost. During her life, Rita worked with NB Power and then upon her retirement she was able to enjoy her gardens and volunteering at Salvation Army. Rita was a dedicated member of her church, St. Augustine’s where she fostered a deep relationship in her faith and church community.

Rita will be missed by all who knew her.

Rita is survived by her sons; Steven Johnson ( Patty)  of PEI, and Jeffrey Johnson  of AB, brothers; Bert Frost (Mary) of NS, Alfie Frost (Sally) of BC, and Doug Frost of BC, sisters; Janie Clarke of ON, and  Christina Whitenect of NB, brothers-in-law: Billy (Catherine) Johnson, Garth (Hope) Jones, Doug (Shirley) Jones; sister-in-law, Mary Hurley; grandchildren; Mitch Ryder (Holly), and Cory Ryder (Samantha), great grandchildren; Gabrielle, Ilona, Aurora, and Grayson Ryder, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Rita is predeceased by her sister Anne McLean and brother-in-law, John.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). In keeping with Rita's wishes, there will be no visitation. A service celebrating Rita's life will be at a later date, when friends and family can gather.
