Obituary of Richardson Valpy
The death of Dick Valpy, beloved husband of Fran Lamb, occurred peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Embassy Hall, Quispamsis. Born in Perce, QC, on January 13, 1918, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Laura D. (Tardiff) Valpy. Dick served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. Throughout his working career he held various senior management positions with White Motors, Avis Canada and retired from Universal Sales - Moncton, an Irving Company. Dick was a member of The Riverside Golf and Country Club, Union Club and Saint John Executive Club. He enjoyed golfing, curling and his summers on the Gaspe Coast. Dick was an avid reader, gardener and world traveller. Besides his wife, Fran, Dick is also survived by his daughters, Margaret West of England and Leslie McColgan (Rick) of Quispamsis; sons, Richard and Bruce, both of Yellowknife; sister, Nancy Dolbel of Toronto; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet (Donavon) Valpy; sister, Joan Brunner and brother, Charlie. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, with visitation on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. A memorial service will be held from the chapel of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home on Monday, September 17, 2012, at 11:00 AM and will be immediately followed by a reception. Interment will take place at a later date in Perce, QC. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Leslie E. Bruce Environmental Scholarship or to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Perce, QC.
