Obituary of Leona Margaret Duffley
The death of Leona Duffley of Rothesay, wife of Robert “Lou” Duffley, occurred peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John. Born in Montreal on November 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Retta (Morrissey) McGuire. Leona devoted her life to caring for her family and she cherished all the special times they spent together. She was a faithful member of the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and was active in the Catholic Women’s League. Leona enjoyed knitting and was a devoted supporter of Saint John Right to Life. Besides her loving husband, Lou, Leona is also survived by four sons, Richard (Marianne) of Vancouver Island, BC, Kevin of Alberta, Michael (Phyllis) of Woodstock, NB and Norman (Linda) of St. Albert, AB; two sisters, Olive Riley of Burlington, ON and Josephine Walsh of Lachute, QC; one brother, Hal McGuire (Margaret) of Nepean, ON; grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Michelle and Erik; great-grandchildren, Liam and Rori-Kate. She was predeceased by one sister, Teresa and one brother, Norman. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Rothesay. A reception will immediately follow the interment, at the church hall. For those who wish, donations may be made to Saint John Right to Life, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
