Obituary of Jean Marie Parlee

The death of Jean M. Parlee of Quispamsis, wife of the late Gordon L. Parlee, occurred Tuesday, February 28th, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Poodiac on July 6th, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frederick W. and Lillian (Norris) Osbourne. Prior to her retirement, Jean was employed as a sales clerk at Stedman’s Department Store in Sussex. She loved nature and took great pleasure in flower gardening. Jean was a bird watcher and received much enjoyment from feeding her chickadees and finches; as well as admiring the backyard deer. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her fabulous fruitcakes. Jean also loved to shop and always enjoyed Sunday drives and a hot cup of coffee from Tim Hortons. She was a skilled seamstress and talented quilter. Her beautiful quilted creations were always wonderfully received by her family and friends. Most of all, Jean treasured her time spent with her precious family and especially looked forward to all holidays spent together. She was a member of Rothesay Baptist Church, Club 60 and Gals and Pals. Jean is survived by her daughter, Betty Damery of Oromocto; son-in-law, Sydney Erb of Quispamsis; brother, Weldon Osbourne (Myra) of Sussex; six, grandchildren, Peter Erb (Heather), Jeff Erb (Lisa), David Erb (Renée), Mark Parlee (Susan), Stephen Damery and Mark Damery (Shelley); several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Jean was also predeceased by her daughter, Marie A. Erb; son, Frederick G. Parlee and sister, Enid W. Smith. A funeral service will be held at the Frances Robertson Memorial Church in Riverbank Cemetery, Norton, on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery.
