Obituary of Mayme Frances Downing

The death of Mayme Downing of Quispamsis, wife of the late Stephen Downing, occurred Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mayme is survived by two daughters, Beth Downing of Quispamsis and Jane Joy (Gary) of Hantsport, NS; five sons, George (Sally) of Hampton, Dave (Janet) of Bedford, NS, John (Teri) of Waterville, NS, Barry (Belinda) of Rothesay and Kirby of Moncton; two sisters, Pansy Bell (Ron) of Ontario and Rose Feener of Newfoundland; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, Danielle, Veronica, Jon, Kent, Keith, Michael, Stephen, Justin, Patrick, Douglas and Robert; six great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Margaret Cherry of Saint John. Mayme was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Bruce and Betty Censner. The Downing family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of 5CN and 5CS at the SJRH for providing Mayme with such excellent care. At the family’s request, no visitation will be held. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6th, 2012, at 1:00 PM, from the chapel of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Saint John.
