Obituary of Doreen Isabelle Kelly

It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Kelly of Quispamsis, beloved wife of Alan Kelly, announce her death which occurred on Saturday, October 1st, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Milkish, NB on September 12th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Dorothy (Williams) White. Doreen was an energetic and vibrant woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved hosting parties and especially enjoyed family reunions. She took pride in her doll collection, making doll clothes and building doll houses. She also enjoyed working on her photo albums, scrapbooking, decorating cakes and gardening. Later in life, Doreen shared many adventures with family and friends while together traveling the world extensively. Some of her fondest memories were of traveling across Canada and the United States, taking numerous bus tours; as well as visiting Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba, Egypt, the United Kingdom and cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. Doreen always enjoyed shopping and a good game of cards. At the age of 75 she wrote her life story. For many years, Doreen was a member of Jewel Rebekah Lodge #6 and was a faithful member of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Quispamsis. Besides her husband of 61 years, Alan, Doreen is also survived by daughter, Lynne Woolnough (David) of Middleton, NS; sons, Stephen (Mary) of Oakville, ON, Jamie (Leonora) of St. Andrews and Shawn (Dawna) of Deep River, ON; sister, Verna Baxter (James) of Gorham’s Bluff; brothers, James (Elsie) of Cobble Hill, BC and Gerald (Treva) of Quispamsis; twelve much-loved grandchildren, Fauna Osborne (George), Daelyn Zanatta (Dave), Freeman Woolnough, Michelle, Nicole, Nicholas, Andrew, Alisha, Megan and Daniel Kelly, Geny and Hoby Rago; as well as, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Raymond. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held from St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 239 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011, at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held at the church hall immediately following the service. Interment will take place in Hardings Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, Canadian Red Cross - Equipment Loan Program, Hospice of Charlotte County, Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket or to the Anglican Parish of Quispamsis.
