Obituary of James Rogers Schryer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Rogers Schryer of Rothesay, NB, husband of the late Leah (Uren) Schryer, which occurred on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Born April 19, 1927, he was the son of Col. Otho Schryer and Jesse Rogers Schryer. Jim being a very driven and independent individual attended Rothesay Collegiate School where he was “Head Boy” and graduated with the Class of 1946. From there he graduated from Mount Allison University. He met his beloved wife and soul mate, the late Leah Schryer, at Acadia University in 1949; Jim and Leah were married in 1953. Jim was a successful businessman retiring from his company Champlain Ready Mix Inc. in 1992. He held a great interest in the hockey community and was happiest when watching a game with Leah; both avid hockey fans. Jim also loved Jazz and was in his own right a great saxophonist and played in many bands in his earlier years around his hometown of Bathurst, NB. Jim is survived by three daughters; Ashley Livingstone (Fraser) of Quispamsis, Robyn Ritter (Bruce) of Rothesay and Cindy MacLean (Scott) of Stellarton, NS; three sons, Scott Schryer (Mary) of Quispamsis, Blake Schryer (Darlene) and Robert Schryer (Christine) both of Orillia, ON. Jim was “Papa” to eleven grandchildren: Erin and Davis Schryer, Tripp Livingstone, Sacha Ritter, Erica and Alex Schryer, Taylor and Spencer MacLean and Ben, Ashley and Max Schryer. At the request of the family, no visitation or memorial service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119.
