Obituary of Marguerite Phyllis Slattery

The death of Marguerite Slattery of Quispamsis, wife of the late Raymond Slattery, occurred Sunday, June 5th, 2011, at Meadow Valley Manor, Quispamsis. Born in Saint John, on April 29th, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eunice (Reynolds) Ryan. Marguerite was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and in her younger years was very active in the Catholic Women’s League. She was an avid hockey fan and always enjoyed a good game of cards. Marguerite was a kind woman who devoted her life to caring for her family. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Marguerite is survived by four daughters, Joann Smith (James) of Rothesay, Colleen Babineau (David) of Quispamsis, Cathy Spencer (Fred) and Donna Evans both of Rothesay; two sons, John of New York and Kevin of Saint John; brother, John Ryan (Donna) of Saint John; sisters-in-law, Betty Anne Ryan and Margaret Ryan both of Barnesville, Sonja Ryan of Saint John and Charlene Slattery of Nova Scotia; brother-in-law, Gordon Slattery (Helen) of Saint John; eight grandchildren, Megan, Nicole, Michael, Katie, Jessica, Sara, Tony and Amanda; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Clement, Gerald and Joseph. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, on Thursday, June 9th, 2011, at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the Mass, at the church hall. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Saint John.
