Obituary of Hazel Esther Trueman Rushton
The death of Hazel E. Trueman Rushton of Saint John, formerly of Quispamsis, occurred Friday, March 18th, 2011, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fort Lawrence, NS, on April 10th, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Christina (Ripley) Doncaster. In her younger years, Hazel was employed at Calp’s Department Store. She considered this to be her favourite job and made many lifelong friends during her time with the company. Hazel enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and dear friends. Hazel is survived by five daughters, Alice Mullett (William) of Rothesay, Ardis Miller of Newmarket, Ontario, Agnes Arbeau (Joseph) of the Kingston Peninsula, Evelyn “Betty” Mullett (Robert) of Rothesay and Dale Simons (Tom) of Mount Holly, New Jersey; three sons, Joseph Rushton (Agnes) of Apple River, Nova Scotia, Billy Rushton (Barb) of Peterborough, Ontario and Arden Rushton (Thelma) of Cannington, Ontario; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her first husband, Stanley Rushton; daughter, Jean Law; sons, James and John; son in infancy, Allan and sister, Irene Drew. As per Hazel’s request, no visitation or memorial service will be held. Interment will take place in Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Whitby, Ontario, at a later date.
