Obituary of Joseph "Joe" Spencer O'Leary

The death of Joe O’Leary of Halifax, NS, formerly of Quispamsis, NB, occurred Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011, at his residence. Born on April 29th, 1952, in New Brunswick, he was the son of the late John and Stella (Mazerolle) O’Leary. Joe had a true passion for photography and was employed as a medical photographer at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. He loved to travel and was fortunate enough to have traveled extensively throughout the world. Joe was an extremely active person who especially enjoyed karate, kayaking and camping. He treasured time spent with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Joe is survived by two sisters, Becky MacDonald (Fred) and Joy O’Leary (Alan Lemoine), both of Quispamsis; sister-in-law, Karen O’Leary of Quispamsis; special niece, Breanne O’Leary (Rob Mather); special nephews, Todd MacDonald, Andrew MacDonald (Kimberly Pelrine), Patrick MacDonald and Gregg O’Leary; as well as, several aunts and uncles. Besides his parents, Joe was also predeceased by one brother, Hugh O’Leary. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Vigil Prayers will be held Tuesday at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011, at 10:00 AM. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Rothesay, at a later date.
