It is with great sorrow that the family of Otty S. Sherwood announce his passing on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Otty was the son of Walter and Annie (Snelling) Sherwood and was born Feb. 17, 1921. In 2006 he was predeceased by Eve Sherwood, his beloved wife of 66 years. Otty leaves surviving his son, Carl Sherwood (Marcia), his daughter, Audrey Sherwood (Alex), three grandchildren, namely, Candace, Kelly and Jeffrey; as well as, five great-grandchildren. Otty also leaves a multitude of nieces and nephews in addition to four sisters, namely, Kathleen Belyea, Thelma Fiebig, Constance Beck and Janet Todd. A special grand dog, Morgan, which also held a privileged place in Grampy’s heart. Otty was heavily involved with the real estate industry throughout his lifetime and was a certified real property appraiser prior to his retirement at age 55. He developed Sherwood Park and lived there with his family for the greater part of his life. Otty wintered in Florida for many years and had an abundance of friends and acquaintances in the South; as well as, in New Brunswick. We will all remember Otty for his kindness, his sharp mind and wise advice, his care and concern for others, his selflessness, his keen ability to relate a story to both young and old; as well as, his ever pleasant demeanour. The outdoors was a haven which Otty enjoyed throughout his lifetime and many hours of his free time were dedicated to fishing and hunting, both of which he so enjoyed. His interests were many, his smiles were often and his family was the nucleus of his life. Otty’s church family was also a huge part of his life and he looked forward to the fellowship he shared with the members of both Rothesay Baptist Church and Venice First Baptist Church in Florida. He has been loved by many and will in turn be missed by many.
