Surviving him is his beloved wife, Ann (nee O’Brien) Allaby; four children, Glen (Kay) Allaby of Miramichi, Beth (Blair) Bartlett of Saint John, Aaron Allaby of Rothesay and Wendy (Curtis) Delaurier of Pembroke, Ontario; nine grandchildren, Alexandria (nee Allaby) Lackie (Mitch), Charlotte Allaby, Hannah Allaby, Benjamin Bartlett, Nathaniel Bartlett, Rebecca Bartlett, Zechariah Bartlett, Kara Delaurier and Andrew Delaurier; three brothers, Alden (Joy), Stanley (Karin), both of Ontario and George (Fran) of Fredericton; two sisters, Carol (Ken) Smith and Della Allaby, both of Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Between 1954 and 1959, Don served with pride with the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the destroyer HMCS Nootka as a Radar Operator. After being discharged from the Navy he became a certified Welder and was employed in several industries, including the Canadian Coast Guard. He took pride in his work and was a tremendous asset to his employers. In his leisure time and younger years, Don coached in the Minor Hockey League. His approach to coaching was very unique. As long as the kids enjoyed themselves playing hockey, it did not really matter if they won or lost. Don was an avid collector of radios and enjoyed listening to CHSJ’s Sunday Night Country Jamboree. A Baptist by faith he attended Kennebecasis Baptist Church. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispasmsis, NB, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
