Obituary of Karen Rebecca Blanchard

The death of Karen Blanchard of Quispamsis, wife of Fred Blanchard, occurred on Wednesday, October 13th, 2010, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Cedric and Myrtle Kyffin. Karen was an avid bowler and competed at a provincial level for over 25 years. She was a member and past Vice-President of the NB Bowling Association. Besides her husband Fred, Karen is also survived by two daughters, Jenny-Lea Sheehan (Mike) of Pleasantville, ON and Jana Ross (Chris) of French Village; one son, Joel Blanchard (Karen) of Hampton; six sisters, Pat Tilley (Steve) of Sarnia, ON, Suzanne Theriault (Richard) of Quispamsis, Phyllis Gilchrist (Murray) of Quispamsis, Eileen Magee (Ralph) of Saint John, Rachel Hooper (Bob) of Moncton and Marjorie Gilchrist of Darlings Island; one brother, George Kyffin (Carol) of Quispamsis; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Jody Blanchard and one brother, Blaire Kyffin. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, (506) 849-2119 with visitation on Friday from 6-9 PM. Vigil Prayers will be held Friday evening at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Saturday, October 16th, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
