Obituary of Linda Marie Mercer

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side, Linda went to be with God on Wednesday, July 14th, 2010. Born in Saint John on February 23rd, 1955, she was the eldest daughter of Charles and the late Jean (Parks) Dugan. Linda worked most of her career at Baxter Dairies (Saputo) and later went to work for Kent Building Supplies. She was an avid bingo player and also loved knitting mitts and wash cloths to sell for her “Run for the Cure” team, raising money for Breast Cancer, which was made up of family and called Jeans Gene’s, in memory of her mother. She was also a member of the Dragon Boat team. Linda is survived by her husband, Bruce, of almost 23 years and sons, Gordon and Andrew, both at home; mother-in-law, Hazel Mercer of Sussex; father, Charles Dugan of Quispamsis; six sisters, Sandra Hosford (Bob) of the Kingston Peninsula, Sheron Bettle (Gary) of Quispamsis, Debbie Dugan of Saint John, Mary Dugan, Trish Saunders (Hughie) and Juanita Kingston (Harold), all of Quispamsis; three brothers, Richie Dugan, Jimmy Dugan (Kathleen) and Leo Dugan (Lynn), all of Saint John; brother-in-law, Brent Mercer (Sue) of Rothesay; sister-in-law, Joanne McMullin (Bernie) of Westville, NS; as well as, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Jean Dugan; father-in-law, Joe Mercer and a nephew, Robert Dugan. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from the chapel at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Southfield United Church Cemetery.
