Obituary of George Francis Murchison
The death of Frank Murchison of Quispamsis, NB, husband of the late Millicent (Jones) Murchison, occurred Friday, May 21st, 2010, at his residence. Born in Malpeque, PEI, on December 26th, 1921, he was the son of the late Rev. John and Mrs. Annie (Stevenson) Murchison. Frank attended Mount Allison University and later Columbia University in New York City. He was an employee of Stelco Steel Company for many years, retiring in the early 1980’s. After retiring Frank continued to visit the Island, spending nearly every summer in his hometown in PEI. Frank is survived by two sisters, Nora Ring (the late Daryl Ring) of Quispamsis and Mary Purdy (Tom) of Point Prim, PEI; one brother, Jim Murchison of Calgary, AB; two sisters-in-law, Nora Murchison (the late John Murchison) of Ottawa, ON and Alice Murchison (the late Charles Murchison) of Point Prim, PEI; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, parents, two brothers and one brother-in-law, Frank was also predeceased by an infant sister, Katherine and two nieces, Patsy Allen and Jane Johnston. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119. A memorial service will be held from the chapel at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 27th, 2010, at 11:00 AM. Also, a second memorial service and interment will be held in PEI next week. The date and time of the service will be announced in the Charlottetown Guardian, at a later date.
