Obituary of Joyce Potten

The death of Joyce Potten, of Quispamsis, husband of the late Guy Potten, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 3, 2009. Born in Ipswich, England in 1924, Joyce was the daughter of the late Lily Pugh. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie McCarthy of Quispamsis; one sister Margaret Cunningham of England; one granddaughter, Kelly Strijack (Jason) of Chilliwack, BC; one grandson, Russell O’Blenis (Amber) of Calgary, AB and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael McCarthy. Joyce was a volunteer of Meals on Wheels at St. Mark’s Church for many years and was an avid animal lover. As per Joyce’s request there will be no formal visitation. Following cremation a funeral service will be held from Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 10 am. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Animal Rescue League, SPCA or Romero House would be appreciated by the family. www.kennebecasisfh.com
