Obituary of Donald Gordon Cass

The death of Don Cass of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Elsie (Bishop) Cass, occurred Thursday, May 28th, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Zionville, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon E. and Myrtle (Reid) Cass. Prior to retirement, Don worked as an Operating Engineer for Irving Equipment. He was an active member of the Quispamsis Island View Lions Club; as well as, the Quispamsis Seniors. He enjoyed biking, woodworking and was always known as being a handyman. Besides his wife of 56 years, Elsie, Don is also survived by one son, Ronald Cass (Debbie) of Saint John; four sisters, Joyce Fisher of Burtts Corner, Patricia Loney of Winnipeg, MB, Joan Cass of Fredericton and Anne-Marie Sullivan (Joe) of Langley, BC; two sisters-in-law, Leona Cass of Penticton, BC and Adeline Anderson of Quispamsis; two brothers, David L. Cass (Anita) of Burtts Corner and Douglas Cass of Fredericton; one brother-in-law, Alan Gorman of Langley, BC; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Don was also predeceased by one sister, Pauline Gorman; one brother, Clarence Cass and one brother-in-law, Al Fisher. Resting at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with members of the Lions Club holding a tribute service at 2:15 PM. A funeral service will be held from Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 1st, 2009, at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held immediately following the service, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Wallbridge Cemetery, Minto, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Extra-Mural Program, Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
