Obituary of Brian R. Long
Long, Rev. Brian Richard - 54, Quispamsis, NB, passed away peacefully at home on June 1st, 2008. He was the son of the late George and Joyce (Groh) Long. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Goldie), daughters, Noreen (Alan) Hudson, Annette Long, Julie (Kirk) Gormley and son, Graham (Heather) Long; sister, Wendy (Rod) Barlow; uncle, Bruce Groh and two grandchildren, Colby and Brian Hudson. He was a graduate of Brock University and later received a Masters of Divinity from Acadia. He was ordained in May of 1979. Brian faithfully served his Lord as Pastor for 32 years. This included student pastorates in the Aylesford/Morristown and Middleton/Mount Hanley/Port George Charges. In May 1977 Brian became the founding Pastor of Heartlake Baptist Church, Brampton Ont., moving to Birch Cove Baptist Church, Halifax, NS in 1986 and to Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis as Senior Pastor in 1996. Brian had many interests, badminton, photography, music (piano, euphonium) and canoeing. Brian will always be remembered for his growing love for God and people. Visitation will be held at Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis, on June 5th and 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on June 7th at 3:30 pm. A reception will be held at the church, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your home church, The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or to a charity of the donor's choice.
