Obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Carstensen
The death of Catherine “Kay” Elizabeth Carstensen of Quispamsis, NB, wife of Ben Carstensen, occurred May 15, 2008 at her residence. Born in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Dorothy (Westrup) Stewart. Kay was a Registered Nurse working at the Moncton Hospital, Saint John General Hospital and Dr. Roberts Hospital, Saint John. She was instrumental in the establishment and administration of the New Brunswick Special Care Home Program. She was a member of Hampton Golf Club and the Red Hatter’s Society. She was an avid golfer, artist and quilter and she enjoyed crafts and stamp collecting. Kay loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her husband Ben, Kay is survived by one daughter Beth Fitzpatrick (Don), Saint John; two sons, Dean Carstensen (Tish) and Allen Carstensen (Karyn), of Milton, Vermont; one brother, Robert Stewart (Vera), Calgary, AB; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Resting at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Sunday from 7-9 PM and Monday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM from Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis, NB, with Rev. John Dunnett officiating. Cremation will follow. A reception will be held at the Church following the service. For those who wish, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Society. www.kennebecasisfh.com
