Obituary of Bruce W. Hewson

Bruce William Hewson died at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 15th, 2008, after suffering a stroke. He was the son of Marjorie and Everett Healy of Rothesay, with whom he resided at the time of his death. Bruce was born in Toronto in 1951, but grew up in Moncton, moving to Saint John, where he attended Saint John High School. Following graduation from U.N.B with a BA degree he worked for several years at Dominion Stores and Willett Foods. After nursing training, he served as a Registered Nurse at the Regional Hospital; however, most recently he spent a year nursing in New Zealand. As a youth he was active in sports, playing football and hockey, but was an ardent speed swimmer in YMCA and University events. In recent years, he was well known in the arts and crafts world for his stained glass work. Besides his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Anyegah [Nicholas] and granddaughter Monicah, of Halifax, NS and his son David of Toronto, his sisters, Barbara Munro [Don] of Belleisle Creek, Anne LeBlanc [Roger] of Bedford, NS and Patricia Teed of Saint John; as well as, brother Michael Healy [Val] of French Village, York Co. He was predeceased by his birth father William Hewson and his brother James Healy. Friends may call for a memorial visitation at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, on Saturday, May 17th, 2008, between the hours of 2 and 4 pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, NB on Sunday, May 18th, 2008, at 2 pm, a reception will follow. Interment will be in Moncton, at a later date.
