Obituary of David Hugh Waddell

Smiling until the end, David Hugh Waddell, Quispamsis, passed away after a short bout with cancer on March 25, 2008. Born May 29, 1947, David was the youngest of four children born to the late George and Erma (Lounsbury) Waddell of Fair Vale. In 1971 he married Janet Miller of Long Reach and together they made their home in Quispamsis where they raised daughter Stephanie (born 1977). He spent much of his working years at Lantic Sugar until the refinery’s closure. He went on to end his career pumping gas for Irving Oil, greeting customers with his friendly smile. Along with work and home, David was an active member of the KV Camera Club and Saint Augustine’s Church. He contributed to each organization in many ways from coming up with ideas for photo trips to serving on vestry. In his photography, David shared the beautiful, everyday things he saw in the world. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Walter. He is survived by and remembered with love by Janet, Stephanie and her husband Andrew Doon, Whitehorse, YK; sister, Elizabeth and her husband Donald Walton, Berwick, NB; brother, George and his wife Barbara, Sutton, ON; several nieces and nephews and their families, Janet’s family, and close friends. The family wishes to thank friends, relatives and the staff at Saint John Regional Hospital for all their care and compassion. Resting at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119, with visitation Friday, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of David’s Life will be held Saturday, March 29 at Saint Augustine’s Church, 239 Quispamsis Road at 11:00am. The family will receive friends from 10am … 11am at the church.
