Obituary of Joan Margaret Stevens

With the deepest of sorrow, our family must announce the passing of our beloved mother ? Joan (nee Sellon), on January 21st, 2005, at age 72. Her death occurred peacefully at the Belleisle Creek Manor, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. Joan was born March 19th, 1932 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, to the late Stan and Margaret (Boaz) Sellon. She has lived for the past 35 years in Quispamsis, NB and was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. Our mother was a special person who touched many lives. She loved to bake, shop, and enjoyed her romance novels, and seemed to make the best of whatever life had to offer. She will be sadly missed by her family ? both for her love as well as her kindness. Special mention should be made of the special care she received from Cynthia Byrnes and her staff during her illness with Alzheimer's. Joan is survived by her husband Ronald of Quispamsis; as well as, her children, Richard Stevens (Connie), Kym MacDonald (Bill), Joanne Janes (Bobby), all from the Saint John area and Stephanie Stevens (Tom Highet) of Calgary, Alberta, who were very saddened by the passing of such a special mother. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren - Shannon and Greg Savoy, Andrew and Alicia Stevens, Alexandra Janes, and Mike Robichaud, whom she dearly loved. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her daughter Debbie in 1997. Resting at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, with visitation on Saturday, from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mark's Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis on Monday January 24th, 2005 at 10 AM. Joan will be cremated following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
