Frederic Manzer

Obituary of Frederic Allan Manzer

March 10, 1937 – September 30, 2020 (83 years old)

Frederic “Fred” Manzer died at the Kings Way Care Centre on September 30th due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.  He was born in Fredericton on March 10, 1937, son of the late Allan and Mary (Allen) Manzer.

Surviving and missing him are his daughters, Dana Manzer and Heidi Manzer (Braxton); son Tom; grandchildren Jordan (Kim), Josh, Morgan (Ryan), Geoff (Keri), Craig (Adrean), and Lindsey; great grandchildren Jacob, Benjamin, Taylor, and a new baby on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his brothers Colin (Coke) and Ronald, and his wife Sharon.

Growing up in Saint John, Fred enjoyed playing and watching many sports, including basketball, baseball, and curling. But golf was his true love. Once retired, he spent all his free time at the Hampton Golf Course, and was proud of having shot a ‘hole in one’ and for playing the most rounds of golf in a season at age 80.  He spent his winters in Panama City Beach, Florida like his parents before him. We are happy knowing that dad can now enjoy a round of golf and a cold beer anytime he wants.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the wonderful staff of the Kings Way Care Centre for the exceptional care they provided to Fred over the last year of his life. You live your values, and we are forever grateful for your kindness and compassion.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. (849-2119). In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In memory of Fred, donations to the Kings Way LifeCare Alliance Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
