Obituary of Alta J. Steven
Steven, Alta J. (Gordon) – March 5, 1919 – September 6, 2020
Alta Steven, born in New Carlisle, Quebec, formerly of Newcastle, NB, passed away quietly at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the age of 101.
She was the daughter of the late John and Alta (Caldwell) Gordon and the wife of the late L.J.C. “Jack” Steven of Newcastle. Alta was a Second World War Veteran, serving with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Saint John and Fredericton.
Alta is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Watling); granddaughters; Jill Steven of Dartmouth, NS, and Susan Steven-Power, as well as great-granddaughters; Ava and Keira Power, all of Quispamsis.
Besides her parents and husband, Alta is predeceased by her only son John.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff for the wonderful, loving care given to Alta while at Kings Way Care Centre. They also appreciate the care and concern shown for Alta from the fellow residents.
In keeping with Alta’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
