Obituary of Margaret Sarah Borovsky

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our sister, Sally (McGuire) Borovsky of Oshawa, ON, wife of the late Alex Borovsky, daughter of the late Neil and Mary McGuire of Renforth, where she grew up with her five siblings near the Kennebecasis River, where we all enjoyed swimming in the summer and skating in the winter.

After graduating, she chose to become a teacher. She taught for 3 years in the Saint John area before venturing off to Oshawa, ON. It wasn’t long before she met the love of her life, Alex. They married on August 22, 1958, and eventually had a family of four lovely children.

Sally, a devoted catholic, was an active member of the C.W.L, and St. Vincent De Paul. Sally always stayed close to her NB roots, right to the end. Her wish was to visit Renforth again, but her health made that impossible.

Sally married into a Slovak family who came to Canada when Alex was 6 years old. Alex’s family was always good to her and to her family, when we visited Oshawa. The Irish and Slovaks certainly blended! Alex was proud to call himself and Irish Slovak.

Sally is survived by two daughters; Sue Robinson (Chris), Anne Greentree (Brad), brothers; Jack McGuire (Judy), and Tony McGuire, sister, Clare Walsh, and many cousins and friends, son in law Jim Horner (Julia), daughter in law Suzanne Borovsky, and sister in law Betty McGuire. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy!

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Colleen Horner (Jim), son Tony Borovsky, brother Bill McGuire, sister, Maisie Whitney (Frank), brother in law Gerald Walsh, and sister in law Linda McGuire.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, when family and friends can gather. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
