Obituary of Matthew Frederick Blair
It is with deep sorrow that the loving family of Matthew Blair, husband of Sarah (Blaikie) Blair, announce his unexpected and tragic passing which occurred on Thursday May 2, 2019. He was the son of Fred and Karen (Kilpatrick) Blair.
Matt was a fun loving and devoted father and husband. He was incredibly proud of the family he built with Sarah and always put them first. Matt was a unique person who could weave the most elaborate stories to keep everyone around him laughing and entertained, something he relished and excelled at. To know him, was to love him and he might have been small in stature but he was truly larger than life. He enjoyed singing karaoke to his favorite country hits and his smooth, deep baritone voice was unforgettable. Matt had an infectious spirit and when you heard his hearty, genuine laugh, you couldn't help but smile and join in. Always wearing his signature straw cowboy hat and bead necklace, he left an impression wherever he went. He was a woodsman, who loved to spend time in nature, hunting and fishing. Matt was a passionate Toronto Maple Leafs fan and always true blue in his jersey watching every game. He loved sports and enjoyed playing golf, rugby and hockey. He was happiest cheering on and supporting his children and their various sports, especially hockey and rugby.
Matt traveled extensively for work and enjoyed family vacations. He was known as an overly generous tipper, much to the delight of resort staff everywhere. People were drawn to Matt and his charming nature. He instantly made them smile and feel comfortable. When it came to work, he took great care of his Union brothers and sisters and was a proud member of Carpenters Union Local 1386. He was very hard-working and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Matt was a dedicated family man, friend of all friends and he will be greatly missed by his cherished family and all who knew him.
In addition to his wife and parents, Matthew is survived by his sons, Logan and Reid; his daughter Madison; his sister Stephanie (Paul) Meunier; several cousins, nephews and many beloved friends. He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Visitation will be taking place on Monday, May 6th, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM. A celebration of Matthew's life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel, at 11:00 AM. The family would appreciate in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Matthew to a continuing education fund, (will be put in trust) for his three children Madison, Logan and Reid.
