Obituary of Eileen Ruth Ward
Surrounded by her family, the death of Eileen Ruth Ward, wife of the late Donald Ward, occurred on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, NS on September 21, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Eva "Belle" (Keeping) Green. Eileen graduated from Sydney Nursing School and was a Registered Nurse for several years until her retirement. She was a member of True Life Church and the Kennebecasis Quilting Guild.
Mom loved her family dearly and devoted her time and energy to making sure everyone was taken care of. She loved to garden and bake. No one makes better cookies and pies. She was a perfectionist and we've all learned to be better people because of her.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Carol Mercer (Mark), brother Kenneth Greene (Louise) of North Sydney, sisters: Dorothy MacLeod (Gordon) and Anne Jackson (Alexander "Sandy") both of Cape Breton, NS; brother-in-law Fred Young; grandchildren: Jared and Jordan Bezanson and Zachary Mercer; great granddaughter Rose Eileen Bezanson; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sister Eleanor Young.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at True Life Church, 30 Vincent Road, Quispamsis, on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Interment to take place at Rothesay Baptist Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to True Life Church - Word of Life, would be appreciated.
