Friends are the family you choose. Ern was a most wonderful male role model in my life. I will never forget the kindness that he and all his family bestowed on me, making me feel like one of their own. My heart is sad but I know he is happy and waiting for us all to join him.

To the entire family ~ My most sincere sympathy to you upon the loss of a very fine man. I met the Hiscotts when we became neighbours on Regent Street in Fredericton many years ago. I was often in their home and Carolyn, Wendy and Jill were often in ours. Over the years, I was a teaching colleague of Carolyn's and she taught our children. I have followed Stephanie's musical journey and have enjoyed chatting with Duke, Carolyn and Stephanie at concerts. Always there was the love and support of family very evident in these endeavours. Mr. Hiscott was a kind man, a good neighbour and always had time for a kind word with children. He led by example. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the days to come.

Hello Stephanie and Kenn. On behalf of the Weir family, please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your Grandfather. Although I didnt get a chance to meet him, I can tell by his obituary that he is someone I would have enjoyed talking to. His life reminds me of my sea-going Grandfather, who has been gone for more than 20 years now, but I miss him still. Wishing you the strength that comes from family and friends during this difficult time.

I had the very real pleasure of meeting Mr Hiscott on several occasions during visits to the Maritimes. A genuine, enthusiastic, interested and engaged man with no little charm and an abundance of warmth for his family, and those like me who are lucky to be friends of his Grandchildren and the extended family. Sincere condolences from Glasgow.

Our hearts ache for you over the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and friend. May the multitude of beautiful memories he created for each of you, give you some inner peace at this difficult time. Ern, my father's dearest friend, was a positive influence on each of us in the Desormeau family. He listened, humoured us, smiled at us, hugged us and, at times, felt our pain while advising us when asked. How fortunate we have been to have been chosen by him to be our friend! May you find some comfort in knowing that we truly send this message with compassion and love.

It is with sadness but very fond memories that I read of the death of Uncle Ern. I enjoyed his robust laugh and "how ya doing sweetie" salutations. My childhood memories of his visits to our home were of meal times. I was always amazed at his jovial easy going response to "Earn, that portion is much too large for you, give me a sliver of that". Then on another occasion, (my mother Rose would share with you), the Sunday Uncle Harold & Uncle Earn had a great visit beside the hot turkey, just taken from the oven for the big supper. When my mom returned to mash the potatoes, one whole side of the bird was gone! I can still her exclaim "What happened to my turkey!". What a grand life and a great man. To my aunt Becky, I love you and miss seeing and visiting with you. I am there in spirit with you all today and share in the celebration of a very fine man. In sympathy, Sheila Higgins McGray & families

Janis Hamilton posted a condolence
Dear Becky, from the beginning of Jill and my friendship- decades along now- I was kindly welcomed by you and Ernie as part of your extended family. I have a lifetime of fond memories that made me feel cared for by you both. Ernie of course was a hoot. I vividly recall the times in the '60's when we'd visit you in Fred'ton & Ernie's look of amazement (or maybe it was a tut-tut!)at our Very mini-skirts..."You going out in that?" and a twinkle in is eye. While I remember well each visit over the years, the trip to Florida stands out where he happily served as chauffeur to/from the airport, to the shops, to the beaches and golf course. Golfing was slightly terrifying to me with his "be careful of the rocks around the sandtraps- they could be alligators". Each time I saw him he'd say "what are you girls doing today?"- we loved how he thought of us as girls. From way out here on the west coast, please know I am thinking of you today as you celebrate Ernie's life. He was a fine man who loved you and his daughters very much and who valued his family and many friendships along the way. With love, Janis
