Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Crowley
The family of Ruth Elizabeth Crowley of Quispamsis announce her peaceful passing, which occurred on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at the Stock Farm on November 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles Rufus and Ethel (Saunders) Crowley.
Ruth will be missed by her nephew Douglas Crowley (Heather); great nephew David (Tammy) their children, Ella and Lily: great niece Sheryl (Rodrigue) and their children, Olivier, Simone and Benjamin. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her brother John Murray Crowley, sister-in-law Catherine Crowley, and niece Linda Lou Crowley.
Following graduation from Rothesay Consolidated School in 1933, she attended Modern Business College and began her career at Irving Oil on Dock street, later she worked at National Harbour Board for 35 Years, retiring in 1979.
Ruth valued family and played an important role in the lives of her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and enjoyed entertaining them on special occasions.
She curled at St. Andrews, Thistle St. Andrews and Riverside Country Clubs and golfed at Riverside Country Club with Business Girls and later with the "9 ers" and continued as an associate member. She enjoyed travelling, knitting, doing needlepoint and working in her garden into her 90s. She spent time visiting residents in nursing homes in the saint John area, especially the Loch Lomond Villa as well as the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre in Hampton while driving. Ruth was an adherent of Hammond Valley Community Church and a member of the Nauwigewauk Darlings Seniors.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 2- 5 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Kennebecasis Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2 PM. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
