Obituary of Marc Anthony Gates

It is with broken hearts, the family of Marc Anthony Gates, announce his passing on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born on August 13, 1958, in Campbellton, NB, he was a son of the late Carl and Mary Joan (Fitzgerald) Gates. Marc loved cycling, yoga, and anything fitness and health related. He was a major foodie, never passing up a moment to try something new, and enjoyed the latest fashion trends. Marc enjoyed listening to music and loved sharing his favourite songs with family and friends. He was known for his teasing and sense of humor. Marc recently had been attending church services and forming many friendships. Marc will be missed by all who knew him.

Marc is survived by his daughter Marissa Gates (Cody), his sister Terri O’Dell (Tim), granddaughter Alayna, nieces Chloe, Gabby, and Natasha, aunts Patricia Yardley, and Sr. Judith Fitzgerald, his partner Joyce Laguna-Gates, and his former wife Mary Ann Gates, as well as many cousins and extended family.

Besides his parents, Marc is predeceased by his sister Kelly Gates.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of 4BS ICU at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion towards Marc, especially to Cherise, Marina, Clara, Sodaba, Ruth, Jen, and Dr. Tushka.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 12-1pm with the funeral service following at 1pm. Interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Marc can be made to Portage Atlantic, or the Ridgewood Addiction Services.
