Obituary of Michelle Hennessey
It is with broken hearts that the family of Michelle Hennessey, wife of Danny Hennessey of Quispamsis, announces her passing on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Michelle faced her year-long battle with cancer with dignity, positivity, and unwavering courage.
Born on May 21, 1986, in Truro, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Dwight and Elaine (Carson) Stewart. As a child, Michelle was inquisitive, artistic, and fiercely independent. She graduated with honours from Cobequid Educational Centre in 2004. She went on to graduate at the top of her class in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton in 2009. She was passionate about her work and highly respected by her colleagues at Lindsay Construction, where she served as a Senior Project Manager, having earned both her Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Michelle and Danny met during their time at UNB, and went on to marry in 2013, settling in Quispamsis. Michelle’s passion was her family. She was a devoted partner to Danny and mother to their two beloved sons, Finn and Leo. Her sons were her world: she never missed an opportunity to have fun with the boys, nurture their creativity, foster an interest in learning, and teach them independence and kindness.
Michelle had a wide variety of interests. She was a talented artist, home renovator, interior designer, and could often be found drawing up plans and sharing these talents with others. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and completing the daily New York Times crossword. Though she was often the calming presence in a house full of rowdy boys, she was incredibly funny and was known to land some good zingers on Danny.
Besides her loving husband, parents, and children, Michelle is also survived by her brothers Jonathan Stewart of Dartmouth, NS, and Michael Stewart (Kim) of Fredericton, NB; her grandfather Herb Bryan of New Glasgow, NS; her aunts and uncles: Bev Farnham (Dave), Sandy McGuire (Paul), Al Carson (Lise Allain), Olla Kennedy (Sandy), Cathy Durdle (Alan), Dawn Brunet (Roger), and Kelly Anctil (Peter); her sister-in-law Kali Hennessey (Brian Poll); brother-in-law Adam Hennessey (Rebecca Mallaley); mother-in-law Margie Hennessey; father-in-law Michael Hennessey (Iwana); niece Ivy Poll; nephew Gavin Poll; as well as many cousins and friends.
Michelle was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Marmie and Bill Carson; and her paternal grandparents Alice Bryan and Vernon Stewart.
Visitation will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119), on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A celebration of Michelle’s life will take place at the same location on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM. For those unable to attend, Michelle’s service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by clicking the provided link.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michelle may be made to Finn and Leo’s Education Fund (cash or cheque at the funeral home, or e-transfer to finnleoresp@gmail.com), the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
