Obituary of Gregory Torrey
Torrey, Gregory. – It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Greg Torrey, husband of Tammy Torrey, announce his sudden passing on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Born on January 3, 1967, in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Carol “Turk” and Florence (Guthrie) Torrey. Greg was a talented builder who framed houses for over 30 years. In later years Greg enjoyed working at the Esso better known as the “McEsso” on Millenium Drive where he was known for his jokes (like turning off the pumps while people try to fuel up), kindness and friendly face. Greg will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and unfailing work ethic; he was always willing to help someone in need through small acts of generosity such as giving people rides, lending a helping hand or cheering you up. Greg was a wonderful father and partner.
Besides his wife, Tammy, Greg is survived by his four loving children, Sara Torrey (Caleb McGinnis), Gregory Torrey, Kaitelynn Torrey (Noel Waite), Jessica Torrey (Geoff Bostwick), his sister, Kelly Torrey, his brothers, Jamie Torrey and Jeff Torrey (Beth); their son, Jay Torrey and his children, Oliver and Layla Torrey, his sister-in-law, Melanie Bettle (Jason Hunter), his brother-in-law, Tom Bettle (Judy); their children Lita, Danny and Xander, his niece and nephews whom he adored and saw as his own children, Joseph Bettle-Lambert (Karissa Forsythe) and Jasmine Bettle-Lambert (Trevor Melanson); their children, Emerson, Wyatt, Charlie, as well as many extended family and friends.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, Florence and “Turk” Torrey and his niece Layla Melanson.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visitation on Tuesday, April 8th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Greg’s Life will take place at Kennebecasis Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 9th at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, donations in memory of Greg can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Autism Canada.
