We all loved Jim. He lived a long and good life. he married, raised a family and faced many challenges in his life yet cared for his wife and children in a strong and loving manner. It is hard to find words that describe his unique character but it can be found in his actions that I can briefly describe. Many times when Jim and I talked he would share stories from when he was young, his time in the air force and stories that had been passed down through generations of days gone by in New Brunswick but ultimately most of these talks would end with him pulling out his wallet and showing me an old old picture of Rita sharing with me that she was the prettiest woman at the dances. He loved her dearly. Through the years it became clear that he could fix anything. If it moved, had a motor or engine and did not work you could rely on Jim to get it up and running again. In his nineties he was still spry when we shared a cottage in PEI. He walked with Rita on the property and along the shoreline, holding Rita's hand and sat with her on a bench on the back deck. You could almost see that little boy twinkle glow in his blue eyes when he took part in events like flying a kite and blowing soap bubbles in front of the cottage. We ended those days by laughing and playing cards. Jim is a nick name and he lived a full life using this name, married Rita, loved his wife, raised a large family and now is with God in heaven. Our family loves Jim and will miss but not forget this man who set a fine example for all of us. Love Julie & Bob Johnston

Dear Rita and family, My husband and I sat in front of you at Mass this morning and when Father Breen announced your husbands death, we didn't fully realize it was the gentle giant we'd often sat near at Mass for the past 6 years we've been attending St. Marks. I saw a tear in the eye of the pretty lady who was standing by you, then I shook your hand and kissed your cheek as we were leaving. Only then did I realize. We have giving you both the sign of peace many times over these past few years and we give it to you and your family now along with our blessings. We shall miss the gentle giant at Mass. God bless you. Sincerely, Mary and Doug Foster

Our most sincere condolences to all of the Duffley family... my car purchases were always inspected by Jim, and I will always smile when I remember when he asked me if I had shown Grampy (Leonard Thompson) this one yet? No, always to Jim first!... and of course, back to Jim when they needed some repair. Peace and blessings to all of you, especially Rita

Dear Rita, As your godson,I want to thank you and Jim for praying for me all these years and for your donations in support of the Opus Dei student residence I direct in Quebec City. If I have been able to remain faithful to my vocation, it is because of your prayers. Now I know I have an intercessor in heaven to count on in the work with youth that we are doing in a Quebec society that has largely abandoned its Christian roots. May God be with you, Rita, as you face the challenge of living on without Jim! Patrick
