Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Stewart
Margaret Elizabeth Stewart of Rothesay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Kings Way Care Centre.
Born in Saint John, on January 6, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James and Elsie (Ward) Mountain.
Margaret was a stay at home mother for many years and was an amazing cook and baker. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She enjoyed her many trips to Florida and just last week said she would have a Piña Colada if she was there. When her children were grown, Margaret went to work at Willett Foods. She loved to reminisce about her coworkers and took great pride in her work. She retired shortly after her grandchildren were born. Margaret loved to spoil and spend time with the girls and attend all school functions. She loved seeing her great grandchildren and often said "We finally got some boys."
Margaret is survived by her daughter; Holly Stewart of Renforth, NB, her sons; Donald (Jean) of Quispamsis, and Bill (Sandra) of Rothesay, grandchildren, Jennifer Dryden (Justin), Melissa Perry (Craig), Sara O'Rourke (Tyler), great grandchildren; Briella and Benjamin O'Rourke, Addisen and Corbin Perry, sister-in-law Phyllis Mountain, her "barking fools" Frankie and Milo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara (Stewart) McIntyre, brothers; Donald and David Mountain, and infant brother Elmer Mountain.
Margaret's family would like to thank each and every staff member and volunteer at Kings Way Care Centre for the amazing loving care and activities they provided Margaret and her family during her stay. She loved going to the schools to interact with the kids and always wore an interesting hat.
As per Margaret's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to King Way Care Centre or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119).
