Diana, Norman and Ian,
Janet and I have just returned from the cottage only to learn of Colin's passing. Please accept sincere condolences from both of us. Colin was,a dedicated teacher, an exemplary educational leader and a commited community volunteer. He always put forth his very best effort at whatever tasks he tackled whether it be as an educator, a Rotarian, a Gyro, a curler, a fisherman or a photographer.
There were so many grand times and wonderful memories from our times together at Windsor Regional. The hours spent in the office discussing problems and philosophy were often memorable and occasionally hilarious. Of the many initiatives he spearheaded I most remember the expansion project of the early 70s,and his leadership and commitment as he sheparded WRHS toward a MIddle School teaching philosopy. During his tenure as Supertendant he took pride in being a strong communicator and was always fair in his dealiings with all of his staff. That noted, Colin never shied away from making the tough decisions and they were always completed with honesty and integrity.
His commitment to Rotary was truly amazing. He served two terms as President and was a member of the Board of Directors "forever". With little fanfare and never seeking recognition he led a number of club initiatives to success. Some of my most lasting Rotary memories centred around the many thousands of hours over countless years which he devoted to the preparation and publication of the Auction Catalogue. With out-dated computers, challenging deadlines and sometimes less than cooperative fellow volunteers, he annually produced superior 64 page magazines.. Diana you will certainly remember the fun we had at Camp Mockingee as you and Colin served as chefs at the RYLA camps. Those future leaders truly appreciated your gastronomical creations not to mention the fun that you had with them
I will always remember and value the leadership he provided and the commitment he modelled. He was a good friend and an even better man. Windsor was a much better community through his efforts.
Sincerely,
Andy Kirk

Phil Van Zoost posts his condolences.
To Diana and family, please except my condolences to the passing of Colin, I had the privilege of teaching at Windsor Regional High School with and under Colin as my Principal and when he was Superintendent from 1974 to 1993.
I could share many events and stories that included Colin, that I am sure Diana would not want to be made public. Don’t worry Diana, I think they are positive . I remember many wonderful conversations with you, Diana about Colin and the boys over the years.
Colin left his mark on Windsor Regional High School and the surrounding schools as a leader in education .
As President of the West Hants Branch of the Retired Teachers Association, I send their condolences to Diana and family.
In memory of Colin we will be sending a financial contribution to Avon View High School. This is the school that replaced Windsor Regional.

Dear Diana and family,
Please accept my deepest condolences on Colin's passing. As a member of the first graduating class at West Colchester Regional High School in 1962 and President of the Student Council,I worked closely with him on student matters. I had great admiration for Colin and all that he achieved at WCRHS. It wasn't the easiest job to take on as the school brought together for the first time students (Grades7-12) from the various communities along the Colchester shore each with their own school rivalries and community loyalties. Colin however won the respect and affection of students and teaching staff and made it one of the best school in the province. Our paths crossed again at WRHS where I did my practice teaching in 1966-67 on the way to a B.ED. and found that Colin had a similar reputation there.
Educator, administrator and role model for so many.
I will miss him.
My sympathies to you and family,
Jim Morrison,Ph.D.

My wonderful brother who was kind ,responsible and always ready to help others. I shall never forget the visits to Nova Scotia and the times we enjoyed at their home. I always thought of Colin and Diane's home as a my second home. The fun times we enjoyed at Christmas playing games with Norman and the Ian and the warmth and love that surrounded the family. It was a haven of stability that brought me great joy. Diane's amazing cooking and their hospility to my friends was so appreciated. You are no longer with us Colin but you shall never be forgotten.

My deepest condolences to the family of Mr Prudy. He was my principal from grade seven thru twelve. He had his hands full. A couple years ago he attended a fifty year reunion at WRHS. I did not attend; however, had the opportunity to read the speech. I felt words he spoke were outstanding. He talked about the past, the present and the future all from an optimistic viewpoint. I believe having him as a principal greatly influenced my life as his optimism was contagious.

Mr. Purdy was an excellent school principal, and enjoyed the respect of students, staff and parents. Everyone in "the Regional" community knew who was in charge, and the school was better for it.
Mr. Purdy also allowed his sons and their friends to use the fishing camp at Panuke, and didn't ask any questions about what went on there. Condolences to Mrs. Purdy and Norman and Ian.
